As of the 30th Of September, Feather and Form have unfortunately parted ways with one of our event designers Rachel Hobgood. Rachel has decided to move on and explore new opportunities and will no longer be part of the Feather and Form family. This however will not affect any current projects and they will be carried out in the usual professional and enthusiastic manner we are famous for. Ensuring that we are able to offer the perfect solution is something we are dedicated to. This will remain a continuing theme of Feather and Form and will be for years to come. We are already looking at new and exciting ways to provide you with the most beautiful and unique events imaginable and we’ll be releasing details of this very soon. Rest assured that we will continue to work hard for you and to make your special day magical, memorable and timeless. We are under no illusions that we offer unique, special and hassle free experience but we want to become even better. We want to make that you receive the best experience possible when planning your event and as such, we’re developing every aspect of Feather and Form and will be coming back bigger, better and brighter than ever before. This past weekend I spent time with friends celebrating their new lives together! Before the party started the real fun began, first I battled rain and then a 2 hour power outage during set up. Once the clouds parted and the sun began to shine, this beautiful day truly took shape. I wasn't in it alone.... a good friend Lorin battled along with me! Thanks Lorin!

So the LA Times has this cute personality test. I love taking these tests because I always think, yea right... like this little program is going to know who I am just buy a few questions. But the LA Times Quiz did. And frankly, it was kinda cool. See below:

The test is taken in terms of a question and then a visual answer. How awesome is that! But I know what your saying, what does this have to do with anything? I almost feel like these types of questions and answers could help with just about anything. From finding the perfect wedding dress to caterer, photographer to venue, asking the right questions and using visuals to answer those questions could help couples determine their perfect day based on their personality.

I Heart July Fourth

It is funny to me that my daughter's birthday and my all time favorite holiday are only one day apart! Maybe July just speaks to me. I love the innocence of a beach picnic, or watching kids celebrate their first sparkler. All day the suspense kills you, who will burn themselves, are we going to get sick from this food because, it's been out all day? Even if you don't know your neighbor or people posted up beside you, sharing will occur. And the best, no matter the weather, rain, strangle yourself heat, you WILL spend the day outside! 185 days into the year this generous day provides more company than most of the other 180 days in the year. I love, love, love it. Our family always spends the day at the beach, thousands of families surrounding us, tents as far as your eye can see. Everyone playing games, chasing their crazy kids and anxiously waiting the nightly display. I cannot wait! I would love to design a July 4th wedding! Any takers?

Where ever you live, whatever reason you celebrate this holiday aways remember those still away from their families watching over our still freedom!

My chicken is turning 5 this weekend.... What happened? Each day passes us so quickly. For the most part, 5 years feels like 5 days! I love you chicken. You are the speccciallistist kid, the air to my breathe, the water to my glass. You are my irreplaceable love.... without you I may not have made it through the last few years with hair on my head and love in my heart. Much thanks to all my friends and family that have been extra hands in our time of need! Maybe that is why I love them. This past weekend, Jus and I spent Sunday at the Sophisticated Bridal Showcase. We had a great time meeting new faces in the industry and listening to excited brides speak of their upcoming day. I always love their stories and how they discuss their inspirations so openly....

We decided this show we would be trendy, to show something that may be done everywhere, but maybe not made it's best debut here on the Space Coast. We chose balloons. They are whimsical and juvenile, ready to have fun and hold a sense of suspense. Even you can admit every time you are around them, the smell, the site, brings back your childhood. I love the new trend in incorporating them into wedding photography!!! Pick colors that speak well to you, making your photos amusing and lively! Not only did we include their presence in our dessert table, but allowed the vision to be fluid in our photo booth.

The day was full of fun and new sayings, never to be forgotten. The best part, strike, or breakdown, all we had to do was grab a pen and pop away. Just a few heart attacks:-) We cannot wait to post the pictures. Stay tuned.

Mrs. Pontier's Garden

Feather & Form enters the kid zone! We had the very special opportunity to host a PK4 graduation party for St. Mark's Episcopal Academy. The children worked with their teacher, Mrs. Pontier, to create such gorgeous butterfly and vegetable gardens throughout the year and towards the end of the year studied in detail Mr. McGregor's Garden, of Peter Rabbit. So, as you can see the garden theme was fitting. The potluck was made of all organic, fresh ingredients... most of which could actually be grown from a garden. The best part, one of the families even took home all the leftovers to replant or add to their compost pile! What a great group. All of the centerpieces were from local farmer's markets and small nurseries. I love, love, love to support local businesses. My favorite, the adorable cupcakes placed in a wheelbarrow.... they appeared to be growing right from the planters box.

Most of the decor was by F&F, draping by Ken from Fabrications Events, cupcakes by Stephanie from CakeKrush.

Rachel and I are sponsoring a wedding show and our booth requires two models, a bride and a groom it will pay $50 each cash. Our ideal female model would be someone no taller than 5'7, has to be between a size 6 to 4 because of the dress we're using, needs to have either very bright red hair, dark black/brown, or platinum blonde. Our guy model can't be any shorter than 5'9, kinda skinny, and have dark hair. Hair, Makeup, and Clothes will be provided. You will have your pictures taken and will have access to these images to use for your portfolio. The job requires you to be at the Bridal Show for approximately 4 to 5 hours.

This weekend I went rummaging! Sometimes you may find that the things that inspire you will not always be "your style", but can be transformed very easily. This weekend I came across a tempting bathroom shelf, I barely picked it up.... but thought let's give it a try! With a few of my own things, it turns out I like it. Not to mention, all the items on the shelf except for the products were found while treasuring hunting. Peony and mint julep cup by Thallo Fabulous Flowers.

So what lesson have we learned? You may not see a space/venue you love.... but remember with your personal style anything, even a bathroom shelf for $5.00 can be transformed! A Love Letter For You is an amazing project by Stephen Powers. Working with the City of Philadelphia Mural
Arts Program, he is actually encouraged to paint on the sides of public buildings on Market Street.
His works include 50 murals and many other forms of art on film and a training school. The school offers
free signage for local businesses made by it’s students.

I love, love, love these murals and wish I was on site with a bride and groom for photography! Could be a great engagement, or fun save the dates.

Each day I am in search of coffee, cupcakes and clever little things. Every once in awhile I come across a few in the neighborhood, at the thrift stores and through blog spying. Today I found very creative items that are special because I love that an imaginative person was behind them. On occasion I see them and say, "why didn't I think of that", like most of us do when we look at the Snuggie..... The ridiculous backwards robe that sold millions!!!! Orlando Weddings, F&F Shout Out

Jus and I would like to throw out a Whoo Whoo! to two very special people. We come across so many giving people and in the past many, many good friends have stepped out to help Feather & Form. It takes a lot to put events together and this weekend Feather & Form had it's hands full. Rebekah Nave Rendell (picture above), of Innove Events in Philadelphia and Margaret Chaplin, of Club Performax in Melbourne helped us create beautiful events with a little hustle! Rebekah was down for an event in Vero Beach at the Windsor Polo Club, doesn't that just sound unbelievable. Thallo was the floral designer and it looked fabulous. After two setups and two strikes a much needed piece of cake and glass of champagne was well deserved. Cristle McCart, a personal friend of F&F, thank you so much for all your love, time and ability to laugh with us. We all have so much fun together. Who wouldn't want us to design their event???

I wanna rock right now, I'm Rob Base and I came to get down, I'm not internationally known, But I'm known to rock the microphone, It takes two to make a thing go right, It takes two to make it outta sight, Hit it!

You know the words, go ahead sing with me or do as only the Lucero's do and break dance at your wedding! How do I make this brief? They rock. When a groom comes along and says, "at some point me and my boys are going to break dance" a small choking happens! Well no one chocked. They were amazing and even the personalized NIKE sneakers spoke more style in a wedding than I have seen in a while. This wedding was energetic, loving, and romantic all wrapped into one. Add in shades of purple, vintage birds, and gorgeous people and what do you have? Isaac and Larah.

Glenda, Natalie and the girls were so much fun to work with.... and the addition of my daughter's tutu keeps me smiling. I love pool cabanas in Miami, Napa Valley and Los Angeles inspired me to build an adorable space for our photography. I couldn't help but to throw in this funny photo of myself.... proves Jus knows exactly what she is doing!!! Who could catch anyone spitting out saltwater? Took a sip by accident!

On Earth Day Feather&Form reflected on just how much we, as a society, do to try and save the planet. We really have come along way with how we recycle, how we save energy and even the way we get from A to B. But outside of the home and the family, what else can be done? Many of us are still looking for ways to reduce the strain on the world in which we live, however, as we all know, it isn't always easy. But have you ever thought about how 'green' a wedding day can be? Well we at Feather and Form have, and can now tell you how to turn your white wedding into a green wedding!

This week has been busy with Holiday cheer! We had the opportunity to honor the wonderful teachers from St. Mark's Episcopal Academy, by designing a table scape for their Christmas Lunch. We also setup another holiday tradition for St. Mark's, Advent in Song. It was beautiful and the chapel was filled with wonderful Christmas music performed by all the students.

Winter Wedding Trends.....

I love this idea, a coffee bar! Self serve or hire a "Barista" for your event. Even better, set up a take home coffee bar, this way each of your guests can choose their favorite and take a small bag home. What a great way to give a gift, without spending millions! Ann & Sara Petrosky are a mother daughter team who "bring it" when it comes to floral design. Their creativity goes so far beyond the box each piece could be a work of art! But don't worry, they aren't so abstract that they are off the charts - but when we say Thallo brings it, we mean it. They create the most beautiful and organic designs, so it is no wonder Thallo was featured in a Florida Today article.

Just a taste...

Sara Petrosky has four rules of thumb to get your creative juices flowing:
No. 1: Go for a simple color palette. Petrosky prefers green, white and burgundy for the holidays.
No. 2: Use no more than three different botanicals in your arrangements. In fact, think "monobotanical" (no more than one type of botanical per vase).
No. 3: Always use fresh, quality products, like those you find at a florist. "To me, using fresh product seems outside the-box, because everybody uses artificial," Petrosky said.
No. 4: Use a variety of surfaces, vertical and horizontal, on which to place your arrangements.

Holiday on Ice was a huge success. The party looked amazing thanks to Ken Lambert for Fabrication Events and Fredrick at Sophisticated Gents!!!! The room was filled with fabulous friends, food and fun!!! Thank you so much for the opportunity to work with you all!

Feather and Form is proud to be designing the VIP Cocktail reception for Holiday on Ice. Every year so many VIP sponsors come together to bring the holiday spirit, meaning cold, to Cocoa Village. Holiday on Ice boasts an ice skating rink and daily snow deliveries.

I've been a little busy and Sunday I was involved in a photo shoot that lasted 10 hours! The photoshoot was for a new company, Feather and Form which I am very lucky to be a part of!
Feather and Form is a collaborative event design firm located in Cocoa Village mixing event design and planning with photography.

What you will see here is just a sampling of the day.

We're about 75% moved into our office!!!

We took down the weird florescent lighting that came with the office and hung a beautiful chandelier! We've moved our beautiful furniture in and our reupholstered couch will be moving in on Friday this week!

Our internet is working but our phone line is taking a little longer than we thought! No worries, should all be settled by Friday!

We brought on our very first intern who has been fabulous and are looking for two more!

We are holding two Open Houses!
